Vallée de la Loire: the Valley of Castles ...

We have now seen 4 of the 66 + castles in the Loire Valley, as well as the home where Leonardo da Vinci lived the last 3 years of his life.  It has been amazing.  The buildings themselves are splendid, and when you add furniture and other furnishings, portraits etc ... it is remarkable.  There is a staircase whose design is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, which has two separate staircases wrapping around each other.  You can see the people in the other staircase, but never meet up.  They both land on the different floors, and there is a huge column in the middle of them.  Definitely one of my favorite things in all the castles we have seen. The Valley itself is quite beautiful, with the Loire river running through it, a wonderful contrast to both Paris and Nice.
